Salineville is located in the southern reaches of Columbiana County, and is home to roughly 1,300 residents.
The village was settled in 1839 and incorporated in 1848. Salineville gets its name from the salt deposits from the Yellow Creek which flows through the area.
The village’s school is a K-12 campus which opened in 2004 and is located just east of town on State Route 39. Salineville is served by the Southern Local School District.
There are abundant recreational activities surrounding the village with the Highlandtown Wildlife Area located just to the east which offers the Highlandtown Lake, a 170 acre lake that is a popular fishing and boating area. Located along Salineville’s southern border and adjacent to the Higlandtown Wildlife Area is the Yellow Creek State Forest that has over 750 acres of forest for hiking and enjoying nature. Salineville is situated in one of the more sparsely populated regions of the county, and therefore its residents are able to enjoy the natural surroundings of the area.
