St. Clair Township is located in the southeast portion of the county close to the Ohio River. This township may be one of the most historically significant in the county. St. Clair Township is the site of the first permanent settlement in the county which occurred in 1792 near present day Calcutta. St. Clair township also had the second foundry in the county which opened in 1840 (another foundry opened in East Liverpool in 1838). St. Clair Township had one of the first Presbyterian Churches in the county.
