About Columbiana County
Columbiana County is strategically located between Cleveland and Pittsburgh in Northeast Ohio. The Cleveland-Pittsburgh corridor is the 4th largest market in the country. We are home to 106,000 residents who make up a diverse workforce of over 30,000 living in 18 townships, villages, and small cities scattered throughout. We pride ourselves on our history, work ethic, industry, abundant park and farmland, as well as our ability to maintain a small town feel while still managing to enjoy big city amenities.
From most areas in eastern Columbiana County you can be to the Pittsburgh International Airport within an hour’s drive where direct flights are offered to a majority of the United States. Also within an hour’s drive are the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and the Akron-Canton Airport.
Our benefits in infrastructure do not just end with airports. Columbiana County has easy freeway access to the nation’s second-longest running east/west highway, Interstate 80, via Route 11 which runs north to south across the county. Route 11 also links Columbiana County and the Ohio River with Lake Erie and its major ports in Ashtabula County.
Our Port Authority is a major player on the Ohio River which gives us access to the Gulf of Mexico. The Port Authority runs the state-of-the-art Intermodal Facility in Wellsville on the banks of the Ohio River. The Intermodal Facility assists in the transport of goods from the river to the rail lines that run directly adjacent to their operations.
Norfolk-Southern has two rail lines that run through the county’s more populated regions in the north through East Palestine, Columbiana, Leetonia, and Salem; as well as the south through East Liverpool, Wellsville, Salineville, and Summitville; Youngstown-Southern operates a line that connects Youngstown to points in Western Pennsylvania via a north-south route that runs through northeast Columbiana County.
We are also the home of two beautiful state parks: Beaver Creek and Guilford Lake. These parks are key tourist attractions which are popular amongst boaters, campers, and hikers. From the farmland of the western portion to the rolling Appalachian Foothills of the southern county, Columbiana County has a landscape for everyone.
Our location says it all. Welcome to Columbiana County! Let us help you see why we are truly a dynamic county to work with.
