City of Salem
About Salem
Salem is Columbiana County’s largest city with just over 12,000 residents. It is located in the north central part of the county. Salem has easy access to Youngstown (25 miles), Canton (30 miles), Cleveland (67 miles), and Pittsburgh (70 miles). With an attractive and historic downtown, Salem has managed to preserve its history and liven up its business district with antique shops, restaurants, and art galleries. The city is not short of recreational options. Centennial Park is located just to the southeast of downtown in the heart of Salem. The park includes a public swimming pool, ball fields, tennis courts, and pavilions.
Over the last decade Salem has witnessed increased business activity and construction. In 2014, Salem Regional Medical Center topped out a new $42.5 million bed tower to their expanded hospital campus. New development has occurred heavily in eastern Salem with the construction of a new Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and a recently completed Holiday Inn. The Salem Industrial Park is located to the northwest of the city where Salem Parkway and Quaker Circle offer ideal locations for manufacturing and warehouse potential. Kent State has a branch campus just to the south of the city.
The city of Salem offers a lot for a small city, and its growth potential for the future is great.
