City of Columbiana
About Columbiana
The city of Columbiana is home to just over 6,000 residents and is the third largest community in Columbiana County. The city is the fastest growing area in the county with new housing developments being built in the north and eastern portions of the city. Columbiana was founded in 1805, and quickly became a stopping point on the railroad. The city is the hometown of Harvey S. Firestone who played a major role in the rubber industry in nearby Akron. There is still a tire test center just to the northeast of the city near Pine Lake. Located in northeast Columbiana County, the city has easy access to Youngstown and its southern suburbs, and is located just east of route 11 with two exits off the freeway. Due to the city’s location on the Norfolk-Southern rail line, there are a range of industries located to the south and west of the city.
Columbiana has a quaint downtown filled with restaurants and coffee shops. At the center of downtown is the circle where the renovated Main Street Theater and the Log House Museum sit. Just a short walk from downtown is the Harvey Firestone Park which is a 68-acre recreational area home to the public pool, tennis courts, football and baseball fields, Mirror Lake, and walking trails. The park hosts the annual Fourth of July and Christmas Lights festival. The Shaker Woods Festival is a large craft show held in August and brings in tourists from all over Ohio and Pennsylvania.
