Tad Herold was born and raised in Columbiana, Ohio. He is a graduate of Columbiana High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University. Tad earned his M.B.A. (with an emphasis in investment management and real estate) from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. Concurrently, Tad earned his law degree from the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University.

Tad returned to the area immediately after graduating and opened his private practice in Columbiana, at which time he devoted much of his practice to felony criminal defense work.

 In 2008, Tad joined the staff of the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office. In his role as Civil Division Assistant Prosecutor, Tad represented all county government offices including, but not limited to, the Board of County Commissioners, the County Auditor, County Recorder, County Board of Elections, County Engineer, County Department of Jobs and Family Services, as well as various other county and township agencies.

 In 2013, Tad was appointed the Director of the Columbiana County Economic Development Department. This department coordinates grant activities for local governments, monitors business incentives, and encourages business attraction, retention, and expansion throughout the County. In 2014, he was appointed to the Board of the Columbiana County Port Authority, for which he serves as the Fiscal Officer.

 Tad also helped to found The Columbiana County Land Reutilization Corporation (Land Bank), serving as its Executive Director; as well as the Columbiana County Transportation Improvement District, serving as a Board Member;  the Columbiana County GIS Department, serving as GIS Coordinator; and the Columbiana County Visitors Bureau.
