Madison Township is located in the southeast portion of the county. Madison has access to Route 11 and Route 30. Madison Township has the highest elevation in the county at 1,447 feet.
Some of the earliest settlers were of Scotch-Irish decent, which contrasts the German ancestry. Madison Township also had one of the first Presbyterian Churches in the county, which was built in 1804.
Madison township has access to some of the best wildlife preservation in the county. To start, Hellbender Bluff County Park is located in Madison Township. This park is named after the endangered Hellbender Salamander that is found in the rocky streams. Madison Township is close to Beaver Creek State Park as well as Highland Town Wildlife Area.
